Dakota seals business partnership with Topscan to help NHS Trusts achieve significant cost savings and implement GS1 Standards
18th July 2016
Dakota Healthcare is pleased to announce it has become Topscan’s Alliance Partner for its property surveying services to the NHS. Topscan is one of the UK’s leading Property Survey and Document Scanning companies and is a Healthcare surveying specialist with a hugh number of NHS Trusts already using their services. As a GS1 Solution Partner, Dakota is already involved in projects with NHS Acute Trusts selected as demonstrator sites of excellence for the use of GS1 and PEPPOL Standards. A recent independent report for the Department of Health by Lord Carter of Coles, states that the introduction of GS1 Standards will allow every NHS hospital in England to save an average up to £3million each year, while improving patient care.
Specifically, hospitals are strongly encouraged to implement Global Location Numbers (GLNs), unique numbers assigned to locations to enable them to be identified uniquely. These GLNs can be used to identify any legal, physical or functional locations.
Topscan offers CAD Bureau and Property Surveying Services. For GLNs to be successfully implemented, it is essential that building layout drawings and accurate property registers are updated and recorded. In offering space reviews, estate rationalisation, identifying underused space and creating key compliance drawings such as Fire Evacuation, Topscan’s offering allows for an increase in the expected £million costs savings mentioned in the Carter Report.
Commenting on the new partnership with Dakota, Chad Coombes, Topscan Director, said:
“We are delighted to have signed Dakota Healthcare as Topscan’s Strategic Alliance Partner and are confident that our partnership will open new opportunities for both parties within NHS Trusts. Dakota has a very strong track record and reputation in Healthcare in this country, and understand the IT needs of hospitals. As a GS1 Solution Provider able to create Global Location Numbers (GLNs) and integrate them with the Trust’s internal databases, the synergy in our combined areas of expertise could not be clearer. The technical competencies and enthusiasm of their Healthcare Sales Team makes them the perfect partner.”
Geoff Monk, Head of Healthcare for Dakota added “We are delighted to announce this formal alliance with Topscan. The adoption of GS1 Standards is a considerable challenge facing most of the hospitals which we are working with. In combining Topscan’s property surveying expertise, and ours in barcode printing and software integration, we jointly bring to NHS Procurement Departments additional savings and a complimentary working solution to allow them to implement GS1 Standards. This is a very compelling proposition to the Trusts and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership”.
