Centre For Health Innovation Pioneering Next Generation Healthcare Technology With Business Collaboration

16th May 2022

Staffordshire University’s £5.8m Centre for Health Innovation has helped an innovative healthcare technology firm take its transformative patient and safety care to the next level.

Manchester-based Voice-Care has joined forces with the University’s Centre for Health Innovation in collaboration centred around simulation-based product testing, product development, research and development, data capture and focus groups.

Designed to keep patient safety and care at the forefront of any hospital stay, Voice-Care provides caregivers with the steps required to care for their patients, giving verbal instructions through a headset, which then prompts the caregiver to speak and record their observations through the headset or via an intuitive interactive app. As well as providing healthcare professionals with the tools they need to nurture and enhance the patient relationship, the new products aim to optimise processes and productivity in busy clinical environments.

Emily Browne, Associate Dean for Innovation and Enterprise and School Lead for Simulation and Patient Safety at Staffordshire University said, “We’re delighted to be working with Voice-Care by providing them with a platform to further develop their innovative technology as well as sharing our expertise. There is a growing demand for voice recognition technology within the healthcare sector and solutions such as Voice-Care are paving the way for improved patient safety and processes within busy clinical environments. Our new Centre for Health Innovation facilities combined with our academic strengths and consultancy services means we can add real value to projects like this.”

Philip Jarrett, Executive Director at Voice-Care adds, “To be working with the Centre for Health and Innovation is an amazing opportunity for our product development, solutions and direction as a business. We firmly believe that the generous support and expertise kindly provided by Emily and her team at this fantastic facility will shape our overall offering and help us to produce solutions that are tailored to the expectations of the healthcare sector.”

Located in Stafford, the Centre for Health Innovation is one of just five Centres of Excellence worldwide recognised by medical simulation training product provider CAE Healthcare. As well as being the study base for more than 2,000 student nurses, midwives, operating department practitioners and paramedics, the Centre also offers an exciting new platform for new collaborations with local business and healthcare and technology industries.
