Employee Spotlight Of The Month: Emma Peacock – Internal Sales & Support

3rd February 2025

Welcome to the twenty-sixth of our ‘Employee Spotlight of the Month’ interviews! At Dakota, we believe that everyone within our organisation plays an equally important role in making the company what it is today.

Each month we will be sharing an interview with a member of staff in order to showcase their key responsibilities within the business and the benefits which they offer to our valued customer base.

This month we spoke with Emma Peacock, Internal Sales & Support, to find out more about her role within Dakota.

1. How long have you worked at Dakota and how long have you been in your current role?

I have been working at Dakota as Internal Sales & Support for just over 3 months now, however I feel like I have been a part of Dakota since I was a child, as my mum, Karen Peacock, has worked at Dakota for over twenty years!

2. What does the role of Internal Sales & Support at Dakota involve?

My role as Internal Sales & Support is extremely varied. In the main, I support and liaise with the Sales Team, helping to gather the necessary information to produce customer quotes, retrieve quotes from our vendors and deal with incoming customer enquiries. I also liaise with the Management Team on a daily basis.

3. What key attributes do you believe you need in order to achieve success within your role?

I believe that the key attributes I require to achieve success within my role are excellent customer service skills and the ability to work as a team player whilst also undertaking a number of tasks independently. A willingness to learn more about the industry as a whole is also important, as well as having a keen attention to detail alongside punctuality and organisation in order to deliver customer quotes correctly and on time.

4. What do you enjoy most about your role at Dakota?

I enjoy many aspects of my role at Dakota, but above all, I enjoy working with the team and meeting new people. It has also been interesting to learn more about the supply chain industry and put this into practice by way of assisting the team with quotes and general enquiries which help support our customers. New tasks and challenges are always good – I am also an expert at making a fabulous cup of tea!

5. What are the most challenging aspects of your role?

The most challenging part of my role at this stage, as I am new to the industry, is the amount of new things that I have to learn on a daily basis, as well as getting to know about all things consumables. That being said, it is always great to learn new information and it has been an interesting journey so far!

6. How do you believe that your role positively impacts our customers’ experience?

I believe that my role does positively impact our customers’ experience, particularly by way of replying to any queries promptly and efficiently. I also interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner and listen to what they need in order to deliver precisely what they want on time.

7. And finally…..please give us an interesting or fun fact about yourself

I love to swim! A few years ago I swam 5k for charity, raising money for Marie Curie in the process. I also ran a 5k ‘Race for Life’ in support of my cousin Andrea, who is well-known in the industry. I also regularly give blood. Everyone should do it – it only takes an hour out of your day and could help save someone’s life. And, since it’s now 2025, I can finally say ‘I get married this year!’
